How Do I Find Meyersville?

"How do I find Meyersville?" is a question that people have been asking since 1846 when Adolph Meyer and his family walked from Galveston to the banks of the Twelve Mile Coleto Creek in DeWitt County and decided to settle here.

Meyersville is located about 30 miles Nortwest of Victoria and about 90 miles (as the crow flies) Southeast of San Antonio. The two maps below show how to find Meyersville. Directions:

From Victoria:

From Victoria, go Northwest on highway 87 about 15 miles to the little town of Nursery. At Nursery, turn left on FM447 about 7 miles to Mission Valley. At Mission Valley turn right (Northwest again) on FM236. After about 1 mile, turn left on FM237. After about 9 miles (at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church), turn right on H. Haun Road. This will take you to the heart of Meyersville. St. John Ev. Lutheran Church and the Meyersville School are located where H. Haun Road meets Meyersville Road.
Alternatively, you can drive about 2 miles Southwest on highway 59 from Victoria then turn right (Nortwest) on FM236 to Mission Valley. Follow the above directions from Mission Valley if you use this route.

From Cuero:

From Cuero, go South on highway 183 toward Goliad. About 12 miles from Cuero, look for Meyersville Road to the left.

From Goliad:

From Goliad, go North on highway 183 toward Cuero. About 16 miles from Goliad, turn right on FM237 at its intersection with highway 183. After about 1 mile, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, turn left on H. Haun Road.

From Yorktown:

From Yorktown, go East on FM237 about 10 miles to H. Haun Road at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, then turn left on H. Haun Road.

From Houston:

From Houston, go Southwest on highway 59 to Victoria and follow the directions given above for Victoria.

From Corpus Christi:

From Corpus Christi, go North on highway 77 to Victoria and follow the directions given above for Victoria.

From San Antonio:

You can't get here from there. Dig out your trusty Texas road map and figure out how to get to Victoria, Cuero, Goliad, Yorktown, Houston, or Corpus Christi then follow the directions given above. (Hint: going through Yorktown or Cuero will be the shortest route.)
